Why this exists
Training is part of the obligation itself
The obligation
AML/CTF policies must address training for people who perform functions relevant to the organisation’s obligations. The Rules require training to be initial and ongoing, appropriate to each person’s function, risks and responsibilities, and readily understandable.
AML/CTF Act 2006 · s 26F(4)(e)AML/CTF Rules 2025 · s 5‑9
What we built for it
A course that assumes the question will be asked. Each person gets their own account, their own assessments and their own dated record — so “who was trained, on what, and when” has an answer you can produce rather than reconstruct.
Training is one part of the wider program. See how the AML/CTF program fits together.

Foundations is free — and stays free
We saw how many people in the Tranche 2 professions need a first, honest grounding in this regime, so the first module of the course is open to everyone: 15 lessons on why the regime exists, the three harms it targets, and how the framework fits together.
- All 15 Foundations lessons — 56 minutes of video
- Every lesson quiz and the module checkpoint
- A serial-numbered Foundations module certificate
- No card, no trial clock — just an account

The course
Eight modules, from first principles to your profession
Short lessons, in order, each one landing a single idea. The law is quoted verbatim on screen where it matters, with the plain-English reading straight after it — and every lesson names the sections it rests on.

At your own pace
How a lesson becomes learning
- 01
Watch a short lesson
Each lesson is one idea in a few minutes of video — under four minutes on average — with the law quoted on screen and the plain-English reading straight after it.
- 02
Answer three questions
Every lesson ends with a three-question quiz, graded on the spot with an explanation for each answer. Pass at 80%, retry as often as you like — the questions reshuffle each time.
- 03
Pass the module checkpoint
Finish every lesson in a module and a twelve-question checkpoint opens, sampled across the whole module. That is what turns watching into demonstrated understanding.
- 04
Stop anywhere, return anytime
Progress saves continuously. Close the laptop mid-lesson and the course reopens at the same minute — most people finish across many short sittings, at their own pace.
Come back whenever you need a refresher — completed modules stay open for review for the life of the access period, and the course tells you exactly where you left off.

What you are left holding
Training becomes evidence, or it was decoration
- 01
Assessed, not just watched
A lesson only counts when its video is watched and its quiz is passed, and every module ends in a checkpoint. Sitting through a video completes nothing.
- 02
Certificates that name the law
Every completed module earns a serial-numbered certificate, and finishing all eight issues the full-course certificate — each recording the learner, the date, and the exact compilation of the Act and the Rules they were trained against, verifiable by QR code by anyone you give it to.
- 03
A record that outlives the licence
Progress, results and certificates are kept as a training record and stay available after the access period ends — because the question “show me who was trained, and when” is usually asked long afterwards.

Said plainly
What this training is not
Not legal advice
The Academy explains how the law is generally understood. It is general information, not legal or compliance advice, and no adviser relationship arises from using it.
Not a compliance guarantee
Completing the course does not, by itself, make you or your business compliant. Training is one obligation among several, and your own AML/CTF program is the rulebook you have to follow.
No AUSTRAC endorsement claim
Lex-AML does not claim that the course is approved, accredited or endorsed by AUSTRAC. It is not a VET qualification, and we make no CPD accreditation claim.
Not a substitute for your program
The course teaches the regime. Deciding what training your program requires, and whether this course meets it, remains your decision to make and to document.
